Improving Patient Care with Electronic Health Records
Texas Health Care is close to reaching our goal of transitioning all physicians onto our electronic health record system, NextGen. Electronic health records have numerous benefits for both doctors and patients. Doctors can access and review a patient's record from anywhere they have Internet access, track multiple patients with similar health issues, and easily provide a comprehensive record to another physician covering for the primary physician. Electronic medical records improve patient safety, while saving time and money.
For patients, electronic records are safe and secure, and provide portability - if a patient is referred to a specialist by the primary care physician, the specialist can easily access the patient's comprehensive health record and receive a complete picture of health history.

Physician Spotlight - Nathan E. Lesley, M.D.
Texas Health Care is proud to welcome Nathan E. Lesley, M.D. to its growing team of physicians serving Tarrant County. A native of DeLeon, TX, Dr. Lesley is a graduate of the Texas Tech University School of Medicine, where he was named Outstanding Medical Student in Orthopedic Surgery. Dr. Lesley specializes in hand surgery and recently completed the Brown University Orthopedics Hand, Upper Extremity and Microvascular Fellowship.
Dr. Lesley is no stranger to Tarrant County, having completed his residency at John Peter Smith (JPS). While in residency, Dr. Lesley taught general orthopaedic surgery and anatomy at the University of North Texas Health Science Center and served as a team physician for several local high school football programs. Dr. Lesley's positive experience at JPS, along with proximity to family, was a primary motivation to make Fort Worth home.
Dr. Lesley says he was drawn to hand surgery "because of the complex anatomy involved as well as having the opportunity to restore function that we all take for granted until it's compromised." Dr. Lesley has been published a number of times and is a member of numerous professional organizations, including the American Society for Surgery of the Hand, the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons and the American College of Surgeons.
When he is not teaching or seeing patients, Dr, Lesley enjoys spending time with his wife, Amber (also a Texas Health Care doctor), and their 6-month old daughter, Anna. When he has time to get away, Dr. Lesley loves to return home to Comanche County to hike, hunt and fish.
