Dr. Gerhardt is a Trauma and Critical Care Physician. He grew up in Saint Charles, Missouri, where he was the youngest of four children.
Erich Gerhardt, DO. went to college at Loyola University Chicago where he was on the track and cross-country teams. He attended medical school at Nova Southeastern University in Fort Lauderdale, Florida where he continued running, competing in several marathons, and graduated in the top 5% of his class. Dr. Gerhardt completed his general surgery residency in Abington, Pennsylvania where he developed his love for authentic cheesesteaks. His Trauma/Critical Care fellowship was at the University of Arizona in Tucson where he trained under the highly esteemed Peter Phee.
Dr. Gerhardt was inspired to go into medicine by his oldest sister who at around 2 weeks of age suffered a ruptured brain aneurysm. Many of his childhood memories revolve around emergency trips to the hospital, and her condition was sometimes touch and go. He believes his early exposure to her critical care needs guided him to his career.
He lives in Allen, Texas with his wife Laura, and 2 children. In his free time, he loves running and plans to continue to compete in marathons. Other hobbies include hiking, biking, swimming, and any activity in which he can do with his family.
