Dr. Nathan Vaughan is a trauma surgeon and surgical critical care specialist based in Grapevine.

Dr. Vaughan completed his undergraduate degree, a master’s degree in public health and his medical degree at the University of Oklahoma. He then moved to Dallas for his General Surgery training at Baylor University Medical Center. Dr. Vaughan completed a fellowship in Pediatric Trauma at Children’s Medical Center and then he moved on to become the first Surgical Critical Care Fellow at Baylor University Medical Center.

Dr. Vaughan’s guiding principle is straightforward: “I like to help people,” he says. He was drawn to the field of trauma surgery because he enjoys its complexity and the opportunity to help patients in especially precarious situations. Experienced in managing patients with complex injuries, he is well-versed in emergency general surgery, blunt chest trauma, extracorporeal life support and pediatric trauma. He also maintains a special focus on surgical and trauma quality improvement.

Certified in Advanced Trauma Life Support by the American College of Surgeons, Dr. Vaughan is also a Diplomate of the American Board of Surgery with added qualifications in Critical Care. Professional memberships include American College of Surgeons, Society of Baylor Surgeons, Dallas County Medical Society, Pediatric Trauma Society, Society of Critical Care Medicine, Society of Critical Care Medicine Pediatric Division, and Texas Medical Association.

In his free time, Dr. Vaughan enjoys travel, trail running, weightlifting, cooking, attending concerts, yoga, and golf.
