Dr. Emil Kurian, MD is an interventional pain management specialist at Optimal Pain and Regenerative Medicine. After graduating from high school, he pursued his passion for medicine by completing his undergraduate education at the University of Alabama at Birmingham. He then earned his medical degree from the Mayo Clinic Alix School of Medicine in Rochester, Minnesota. Following medical school, he completed his residency training in anesthesiology at Johns Hopkins Hospital and went on to complete fellowship training in interventional pain management at the University of Texas Southwestern.
Throughout his medical training, Dr. Kurian has been actively involved in extensive obstetric and adult anesthesiology and pain medicine research at leading institutions, including Mayo Clinic, Johns Hopkins University, and Massachusetts General Hospital. He is dedicated to providing comprehensive, patient-centered care with a focus on improving function and quality of life through minimally invasive procedures and individualized treatment plans. He believes in truly listening to each patient to understand their goals, concerns, and experiences, ensuring that their voice is central to every step of their care.
Outside of medicine, Dr. Kurian enjoys spending quality time with his wife and kids, working on cars, going to the gym, and creating and running his own successful medical podcast.
