Lynne R. Tilkin, DO

Family Medicine

Dr. Lynne Tilkin is a family medicine physician based in Fort Worth.  She is a Fellow of the American Academy of Family Practice.

Dr. Tilkin works every day to meet the health care needs of her patients, who range in age from adolescents to senior citizens.  She brings a wide range of skills and expertise to her practice, including osteopathic manipulative treatment (OMT), a treatment used by doctors of osteopathic medicine to evaluate and treat certain musculoskeletal conditions. She also has a focus on wellness, including well woman and well male care.

Her patients agree that a visit to Dr. Tilkin will not be rushed, and their questions will get answered.  Dr. Tilkin wants her patients to feel that a visit to her office is like seeing extended family, and their time there will bring a similar feeling of comfort and familiarity.

Dr. Tilkin was drawn to the field of medicine as a youth.  “My mom had breast cancer when I was a teen and that experience motivated me to be part of the healthcare profession and provide care and compassion to people,” she says.  She enjoys family medicine because of the broad array of challenges the field presents.

“You amass a lot of information in the field of primary care,” Dr. Tilkin notes.  A key part of her patient care is imparting knowledge and useful advice to her patients.  She is intentional about patient education, covering key items like how to best maintain a healthy blood pressure and the importance of taking medication as prescribed.

In her experience, the biggest improvement most people could make to their overall health is to pay more attention to their diets and exercise routines.  “Exercise doesn’t have to be complicated or overly challenging,” she says.  “Just 10-15 minutes of physical activity, most days of the week, does wonders for our overall health.”

Her colleagues know that Dr. Tilkin’s dedication to the health care profession extends beyond the walls of her own office.  For example, the day after Christmas in 2020, Dr. Tilkin was busy working the phones to secure some of the first doses of the COVID-19 vaccine for the doctors and nurses she works with.  She was successful, which did not surprise anyone – Dr. Tilkin is well-known within Privia Medical Group North Texas/Texas Health Care for being a physician leader and a mentor to other doctors.

Dr. Tilkin wears multiple hats within the organization, including serving as Chief of the Primary Care Division.  In this role, she mentors and coaches more than 40 primary care doctors, with a focus on the value-based care that Privia is known for.  She also serves as Vice-Chair of the Medical Advisory Committee, a leadership group of doctors that handles everything from insurance contracting and coding compliance to patient satisfaction and all other aspects of the business side of medicine.  Dr. Tilkin is known for reaching out to other physicians to help them with challenges they may be having and is especially respected as a mentor to other women doctors.
