Dr. Tyler Heimdal is a fellowship-trained orthopedic spine surgeon specializing in the care of cervical, thoracic, and lumbar spine conditions. He offers both surgical and nonsurgical treatment options, with an emphasis on personalized care and conservative management whenever appropriate. A North Texas native, Dr. Heimdal grew up in Sanger, where he was valedictorian of his high school class. He is proud to return to the Fort Worth area to serve the community that helped shape him and is committed to delivering high-quality spine care across North Texas. His clinical expertise includes degenerative spine conditions, spinal trauma, tumors, infections, and revision spine surgery. He has a particular interest in motion preservation and minimally invasive techniques, including cervical disc replacement, with the goal of maintaining function and helping patients return to an active lifestyle.
Dr. Heimdal earned his Doctor of Medicine and Master of Science from Texas A&M College of Medicine and holds a degree in Exercise Physiology from Texas A&M University. He completed his orthopedic surgery residency at Baylor University Medical Center in Dallas, followed by advanced fellowship training in orthopedic spine surgery at the University of Maryland / R Adams Cowley Shock Trauma Center. He has published orthopedic and spine research and presented at several national and international conferences. His training, with an emphasis on evidence-based medicine, guides his approach to ensuring each patient receives thoughtful, up-to-date, and individualized care.
Dr. Heimdal believes in patient education and shared decision-making, working closely with each patient to develop a treatment plan focused on relieving pain, restoring function, and improving quality of life. Outside of medicine, he enjoys spending time with his wife, staying active, traveling, and being involved in his church community.
